Florida High Speed Rail Map

What do you think about Obama’s Vision for High Speed Rail?

A map of the plan can be seen here: http://www.whitehouse.gov/assets/images/rail_map_blog.jpg

Details here:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/09/04/16/A-Vision-for-High-Speed-Rail/

“The report formalizes the identification of ten high-speed rail corridors as potential recipients of federal funding. Those lines are: California, Pacific Northwest, South Central, Gulf Coast, Chicago Hub Network, Florida, Southeast, Keystone, Empire and Northern New England. Also, opportunities exist for the Northeast Corridor from Washington to Boston to compete for funds to improve the nation’s only existing high-speed rail service”

What are your thoughts on this vision?

The L.A. Times had an editorial on this topic today, expressing concerns about project funding. The editorial noted that $13 billion over five years won’t go far in building a national network that would cost hundreds of billions, and questioned where the rest of the money is going to come from. That’s a concern that needs to be addressed before I come aboard.

That said, I would use the system to head up to San Francisco and, when the next phase is put into place, Sacramento. I’ve traveled by train a number of times, including a high speed service offered on the East Coast, and loved the time available to read, converse, etc.

The links below help get you into the nitty gritty of the program. It’s an idea long overdue, but I don’t want to foist any more debt onto my children and grandchild. I want the funding aspect to be more fully realized before I offer my unconditional support.

Can anyone give me a detailed description of a VIP tour at Disney World, Magic Kingdom?

I know it’s pretty expensive, but it’s going to be my second time going, and the last time was when I was really young. Do you recommend it for as I would say, a first time goer?

What rides do they take you on? All of them? If not all, would you name me some?
What do they do?
Is it worth 125 an hour?
Do children need a supervisor with them on this guide?
What activities do they do with you?

How should I plan it, and how long should I reserve my tour guide for?

Heres the BIG question:
Yes, I am a Disney fanatic, and I know the Disneyland park from the back of my head. From Fastpasses, to restaurants, etc. Do YOU think, that I should get the tour?

Oh, and this is over the June time of the year.

Thank you so much and have a magical day!

It’s kind of customizable based on what you want to do. You will go in the areas you want to go in. You will not ride every ride, but you can pick some rides. They will give you Disney tips and secrets along the way. For the crazy expensive price, you might want to consider one of the other tours which won’t be quite so high.

Florida Vacations In December

Looking for a Great Beach in South Florida?

Hi, I’m planning a South Florida vacation in December. My family is a picky bunch when it comes to beaches… I’m looking for a beach with clean, calm water (combed sands if possible, not too much seaweed preferably). The beach should be fairly wide. That’s about all my criteria so far… I’ve heard good things about Fort Lauderdale, South beach (is the sand clean there??), bahia honda (isn’t there a lot of seaweed though?) also, who has the warmest water in late December? Thanks a lot!

Here are the average December water temperatures, provided by the National Oceanographic Data Center:

Miami Beach = 73
Key West = 72
Naples-Marco Island FL = 68

Just a note: I’ve vacationed at all three locations in late December and it can be a bit cold for swimming. It just depends on how comfortable you and your family will be with these temps.

Marco and Naples don’t have the nighlife of South Beach, but the beaches are wide, clean and groomed, and there’s plenty to do. There are many condo resorts right on the beach, most with heated pools.

Good Luck!
