Need Advice on Planning Disneyland trip- where to dine and stay…?
we are going to Disneyland for the first time next week. I have a three year old and a 2 month old. We’re only going to stay 1-2 nights and do the 2 day hopper pass. The first day I’d like suggestions on where to eat dinner. The next morning we already have a reservation for breakfast with the characters on Main street. Is it worth it to stay at a hotel on site? It’s about 4 times more expensive than one 3 blocks away with shuttle service. What are your thoughts. I’m a little nervous about my 3 year old being able to go all day both days with no naps, but since we’re only there 2 days I want to fit it all in!
I always recommend the Anaheim HoJo (Howard Johnson), which has a themed pool area, and is right across the street from the entrance. It’s actually closer to the entrance than the Disneyland hotel or Paradise Pier on the other side of the resort. It’s close enough to walk, so naps are an option.
If you want a bit of a special dinner, the Blue Bayou is right inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. However, it’s very pricey, even for Disneyland. Other good alternatives are Cafe Orleans, where they have great beignets for dessert, and delicious pommes frites (fires). The kids chicken legs or mac and cheese are good there. Get the Monte Cristo Sandwich. At Carnation Cafe, I love the steak sandwich or the chicken pot pies, although the entire menu is delicious. For kids, they have mac and cheese or PB&J, which the kids can build themselves. Another good choice is the Plaza Inn, where you’ll have the character breakfast. For dinner, they have delicious chicken, pasta, or beef, along with salads and desserts, served cafeteria style. The chicken dinner is perfect for a 3 YO. Tell the 3YO that Mickey says to eat the string beans. They’re good. LOL.
Having the hotel close by is GREAT for naps. Have a great time!
I found food ‘n drink! Disneyland Dining Plan.
